A dentist may be able to help evaluate whether the jaw could be contributing to some types of head or face pain. Headaches and migraines have many possible causes, so a jaw evaluation cannot determine the source on its own and does not replace care from your physician or other provider.

Surgery is not typically the first step in this approach. Depending on the evaluation, reversible and non-surgical options may be discussed, including a custom orthotic. No particular treatment or outcome is right for everyone.
